The Applicant Source Tracking feature in our ATS product enables you to analyse where job applicants are coming from. This helps recruiters and hiring teams understand which job boards, referral sources, or marketing efforts are most effective in attracting candidates.

Unlike other solutions that rely on candidates manually selecting 'Where did you hear about this job?' from a dropdown, Teacher Booker's ATS automatically tracks applicant sources through real-time analytics. This eliminates human error, improves accuracy, and provides a true reflection of candidate journeys.

This guide covers:

  • Understanding First Click and Last Click Attribution

  • Navigating the Analytics Page

  • Interpreting First Click and Last Click Data

  • Filtering and Analysing School-Specific Data

Understanding First Click and Last Click Attribution

Our system provides two key attribution models to track applicant sources:

First Click Attribution

  • This model assigns full credit to the first source a candidate interacted with before applying.

  • Example: If a candidate first clicked on your job advert on LinkedIn but later applied through another site, LinkedIn would get the credit.

  • Best for: Understanding where candidates are first discovering job opportunities.

Last Click Attribution

  • This model attributes credit to the last source before the application was submitted.

  • Example: If a candidate first visited your job ad from Facebook but ultimately applied via a Trust website, then the latter would get the credit.

  • Best for: Identifying which sources drive the final conversion to application.

Navigating the Job Board Analytics Page

To access your applicant source tracking:

  1. Go to Analytics in the left hand menu

  2. Select the date range to analyse (e.g., Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Year, or a custom range).

  3. Click View Analytics to generate the report.

Interpreting First Click and Last Click Data

The analytics dashboard displays:

  • First Click Analytics (default view): A pie chart showing the distribution of applicants by their first interaction source.

  • Last Click Analytics: Toggle this tab to see the final touchpoint before an application was submitted.

  • School Distribution by Source: A bar chart showing how different schools are sourcing applicants.

Filtering and Analysing School-Specific Data

  • Use the checkboxes to filter by specific schools.

  • View the impact of different applicant sources on each school’s hiring funnel.

  • Compare the performance of multiple sources across different institutions.

Conclusion

The Applicant Source Tracking feature provides valuable insights into candidate behaviour, allowing you to optimise recruitment marketing efforts. By leveraging First Click and Last Click attribution, you can make data-driven decisions about where to invest in job advertising.
